Adolphus Mubanga, who was jointly accused with former Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba, has been convicted to two years for possession of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.
Lusaka Principal Magistrate Irene Wishimanga has handed down the two year imprisonment with hard labour after convicting Mr Mubanga.
Mr Mubanga, a Lusaka Businessman, is also a country representative of Curzon Global Limited, a company where Mr. Mwamba allegedly expressed interest for business deals in 2011, as Defence Minister during the period under review.
It is alleged that Mr. Mubanga between June 1 and August 30 2021, possessed four million and 50 thousand in a named Bank, deemed to be proceed of crime.
Further Mr. Mubanga on August 30, 2015 allegedly possessed 980 thousand Kwacha held at a named Bank and on November 30, 2015 had 525 thousand 954 Kwacha in another bank, deemed to be proceed of crime.
The convict was arrested in June 2022 and initially jointly charged with former Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba.
He was later separated from the indictment and charged independently with possession of properties deemed to be proceed of crime.
