Drunk Drivers Warned – Tayali

Government has called for zero tolerance to drunk-driving and excessive speeding on the road.

Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali says it is unfortunate that human error has continued to be a leading contributing factor to road accidents accounting for 93 percent.

Mr. Tayali has since challenged the Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA- and the Police Service not to be complacent in ensuring that road rules are followed.

The Minister said this in a speech read for him by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Fredrick Mwalusaka.

This was in Lusaka at the Commemoration of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims held under the theme “Justice”.

And RTSA Board Chairperson Allen Mate directed Management to ensure that all accidents are fully investigated and findings shared to all stakeholders and the Public.

Meanwhile, RTSA Chief Executive Officer Amon Mweemba in a speech read for him by Deputy Director Transport Joseph Mumba expressed concern that pedestrians are mostly victims in road accidents.
