Grant Takes a Swipe at Libyan Referee for Poor Officiating Up

Zambia coach Avram Grant has blamed Libyan referee Abdulrazg Ahmed for poor officiating.

The Chipolopolo Boys suffered a shock 2-1 defeat by Niger when they had the chance to clear of Group E in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

“The referee also helped them. Normally, I don’t speak about referees but this time, let’s say it was not a good day,” the 68 year old said.

Niger forward Amadou Moutari, scorer of the first goal should have been flagged for offside.

“I will be very gentle but we need to look at ourselves; we lost the game and we are looking forward to the next game,” he added

“There were so many fouls that the referee didn’t give us, including in the box, in the last ten minutes,” Grant said.

Patson Daka scored a consolation for Zambia to end the year on 9 goals in 8 appearances.

Daka now has 14 goals in his last 13 appearances for Zambia and 18 overall in 36 caps.
