Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali has been awarded K450, 000 by the Lusaka High Court on account of the trauma occasioned to him by the police in 2020.
The Police had during the period under review pointed a gun at Mr. Tayali thereby allegedly occasioning him trauma.
The incidence occurred when Mr .Tayali accompanied President Hakainde Hichilema then as opposition Leader for interrogations at the Police Headquarters in Lusaka.
On account of the incidence, Mr. Tayali filed a claim for compensation in the Lusaka High Court.
Subsequently in a consent judgment delivered on Monday, between the State and Mr. Tayali, Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha consented to the compensation.
The State has also undertaken to cover K80, 000 Mr. Tayali incurred on legal costs over his legal suit.
The matter was before Lusaka High Court Judge Conceptor Zulu.
