Mwiimbu: Mkushi Suspect’s Death Report Not Yet Ready

Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu says his office is yet to be presented with a full report on the cause of death of a suspect who died under police custody in Mkushi District.

Mr. Mwiimbu says postmortem results indicated no physical injuries on the body of the deceased, with the brain still intact.

He says pathologists collected specimen on the body of Allan Sikalango for further examination but the results are yet to be produced.

Mr. Mwiimbu was responding to Mkushi North Member of Parliament Christopher Chibuye, who wanted to find out if the Zambia Police service command is aware of the death of a suspect who was in police custody.

He said police have enhanced capacity building of officers to improve management of suspects who are under police custody.

Sikalango was arrested along with other suspects on allegations of theft.

The deceased was rushed to Mkushi District hospital when he was noticed to be unconscious and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
