Energy Permanent Secretary Peter Mumba says there is urgent need to address issues of tariffs to attract investment in the electricity industry.

Mr. Mumba says as Zambia looks for alternative sources of energy due to climate change, the Ministry of Energy is undertaking measures to resolve the identified challenges.

Speaking when he opened the Presidential Delivery Unit -PDU- Energy Sector Delivery Lab in Lusaka on Monday, Mr. Mumba said it is every citizen’s role to attract private sector investment through use of clean and renewable energy.

Meanwhile, Energy Regulation Board -ERB- Director General Yohane Mukabe said the board is developing new regulation policies to remove those that hindered potential investors.

Head PDU Kusobile Kamwambi said there is need to urgently streamline ZESCO’s sustainability to ensure access to affordable electricity for rural and urban areas.
