WAFCON Qualifiers; Pauline Zulu Expecting a Tough Encounter Against Angola

Copper Queens defender Pauline Zulu says they won’t be reluctant when they face Angola in the upcoming second round back-to-back 2024 Morocco Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers.

Speaking in an interview after Wednesday’s training session at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, The Elite Ladies defender said the team will not underrate Angola.

The U-20 National Team graduate went on to say that training is going on well and they are ready for the upcoming assignment.

“Training is going on well, everyone is pushing, the morale is very high and we look forward to the match against Angola,” Zulu said.

This encounter will be the second meeting between the two sides this year having met last month during the COSAFA Women’s Championship with Zambia managing a 3-1 victory over Angola but Zulu is not carried away by this statistic and expects a different encounter when they square off in the WAFCON Qualifiers.

“It won’t be easy to play Angola, we edged them at the COSAFA Tournament in South Africa but this game is expected to be different therefore we won’t be reluctant nor underate our opponent,” Zulu told the ZamFoot Crew.

“We are going into this match with a strong mentality of ensuring we pick up a positive result especially when we travel away and finish the work at home in front of our supporters who we are encouraging to come in numbers to support us at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium,” she added.

Zambia will be away in Luanda on 29th November, 2023 before hosting their neighbours at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola for the first time on 5th December, 2023 with the overall aggregate winner qualifying to next year’s WAFCON Tournament to be hosted by Morocco.
