Public Health In Africa Summit Attracts 10 Heads Of State

More than 10 Heads of States are expected in the country next week for the International Conference on Public Health in Africa in Lusaka.

Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says so far, the confirmations by Heads of States stands at 10 but the number may rise as the conference draws near.

Mr. Mweetwa, who is also Information and Media Minister, says five thousand delegates are also expected to attend the conference which will be opened on 27 November.

Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, Mr. Mweetwa assured the delegates of the best hospitality in the country.

And Mr. Mweetwa reiterated that the opposition is the one which wants the Republican Constitution to be amended.

The Minister, who displayed a letter written by Petauke Member of Parliament Emmanuel Banda on November 1st addressed to Clerk of the National Assembly Roy Ngulube, said the opposition has been planning to amend certain parts of the constitution.

Mr. Mweetwa disclosed that the letter also disclosed that such a motion would be seconded by Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu.

Mr. Mweetwa reiterated that government has no plans to amend the constitution saying such an undertaking can only happen if the people decide to do so.
